Fàilte - Inverness Nordic Ski Club

CONSTITUTION

1. The club will be known as the ‘Inverness Nordic Ski Club’, and from the 1st June 1998 will incorporate the former Ross-shire Cross-Country Ski Club.

2. The aims of the Club are;
a) To promote and encourage the sport of Nordic Skiing in it's various forms.

b) To bring an awareness of the sport in its different forms to interested parties.

c) To communicate and co-operate with bodies such as farmers, landowners, local authorities, Forestry Commission and the like in order that the needs of the Nordic skier can be recognised and met.

d) To provide club facilities for all members, offering a ‘communication network’ or platform for exchange of ideas, information and snow conditions etc., and to organise Club events such as outings, weekend trips, shows, presentations, talks, demonstrations and social gatherings.

e) To organise contact with other clubs, organisations, professional bodies and individuals allied to the sport, to the benefit of the Club by providing facilities and useful information and promoting Nordic skiing activities.

To affiliate to the sports governing body and any other appropriate bodies for the benefit of members as shall be decided at the General Meeting of the Club.
A "Child Protection" policy as required by The Highland Council, will be operated by the Club. This may be either: a. The policy adopted by The Highland Council.
b. The policy adopted by the Governing Body for the sport.
c. A policy developed by the club, which meets the requirements of the above bodies.

3. Membership shall be open to any person regardless of Race, Religion, Gender, or Age and without restriction on place of residence. The Committee reserves the right to withdraw or refuse membership to any person who has brought, or may bring, the Club into disrepute, or guilty of anti-social behavior which threatens the well being of Club members.

4. The Club’s affairs shall be managed by a committee of a Chair (person), Vice-Chair (person), Secretary, Treasurer and other members as appropriate (as agreed by the General Meeting of the Club) to a maximum of eleven (11) committee members in total; Five (5) will form a quorum at any committee meeting. The Committee is elected by the previous General Meeting and will stand for one (1) year.

5. The Committee will have the power to co-opt members to fill casual vacancies arising within the committee; they also have the power to co-opt members for any special purposes as they see fit, but such members will not be entitled to vote at committee meetings.
Sub-committees may from time to time be appointed as required.

a) The financial year of the Club will run from the First (1st) of June to the Thirty-first (3 1st) of May of the following year.

The annual subscription, fixed each year by the Annual General Meeting, will be due on or before the Thirty-first (31st) October of the year running. Any member who has not paid the subscription by the Thirty-first (31st) December will be deemed to have resigned their membership, but they may rejoin on payment of their subscription.

c) The rates of subscription will be that of “Junior” (18 years and under)/ “Student”/ “Unemployed” “Individual”,“Individual over 60”; “Individual”; “Family” (1 or 2 Adults plus dependant Juniors and students)/ “Two Adults” (sharing same address); and “Unemployed Family.”

d) An auditor, who shall not be a member of the Committee, will be appointed at the Annual General Meeting for the purposes of auditing accounts as appropriate and auditing the seasonal year’s account for presentation at the next Annual General Meeting.
e) All monies received and payments due shall be in the hands of the Treasurer who will issue receipts and make payments on the Club’s behalf. The Treasurer will also be responsible for a complete and full account to be rendered at each Annual General Meeting for the seasonal year in which he/she has held the office of Treasurer.

All members and other persons who attend Club events or meetings do so at their own risk and neither the Club nor its Office-bearers can accept any liability whatsoever for any loss or injury of any kind sustained while engaged in Club activities.

8. In the event that the club ceases to operate, after fulfilling all obligations to outside parties, the remaining assets will be offered to the Inverness Area Sports Council to dispose of as per written guidelines.

9. The Constitution will be altered only by the Annual General Meeting or a Special General Meeting, called for that purpose, and then only by the assent of two-thirds of those present.
